Polymers Comprising Cholesterol: Synthesis, Self-Assembly, and Applications
This article reviews the current status of self-assembling liquid crystalline polymers comprising cholesterol. This article will focus on synthesis, structure-property relationships and strategies to direct ordering and packing of mesoand nanostructures of cholesterol polymers in the neator melt state and in solution. The applications of these self-assembled structures will be presented.

Photo-responsive self-assembly in water based on the molecular recognition motif between a water-soluble pillar[6]arene host and an azobenzene-containing amphiphilic guest in water was investigated.
متن کاملProbing alamethicin channels with water-soluble polymers
Channel access resistance has been measured to estimate the characteristic size of a single ion channel. We compare channel conductance in the presence of nonpenetrating water-soluble polymers with that obtained for polymer-free electrolyte solution. The contribution of the access resistance to the total alamethicin channel resistance is 10% for first three open channel levels. The open alameth...
متن کاملWater soluble polymers in tumor targeted delivery.
The rationales for the use of water soluble polymers for anticancer drug delivery include: the potential to overcome some forms of multidrug resistance, preferential accumulation in solid tumors due to enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, biorecognizability, and targetability. The utility of a novel paradigm for the treatment of ovarian carcinoma in an experimental animal model, wh...
متن کاملInterfacial self-assembly of water-soluble cationic porphyrins for the reduction of oxygen to water.
Meet at the border: Assembly of the water-soluble cobalt tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrin [CoTMPyP](4+) at soft interfaces is enhanced and stabilized by its interfacial interaction with the lipophilic anion (C(6)F(5))(4)B(-). The supramolecular structure thus formed provides excellent catalytic activity in the four-electron reduction of oxygen.
